"A year ago this July, I had my first chemotherapy at the office of Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Firozvi. I had no idea what to anticipate and was a little frightened. People in the 'front' office had already impressed me not only with their professionalism, but by always being upbeat and friendly. When we went to the infusion suite, however, it was even nicer. I felt like I was taken into a warm and most inviting place where everyone was there to make me feel better. In the year since then, I have met some of the most wonderful people ever, patients who interact with each other and are constant pillars of support; the staff are the absolute best, and to me, going to chemotherapy it is like returning to extended family. Last week, while at chemo, I was able to share in two patients ringing the ship's bell -- meaning they were finished with chemo. They have a little ceremony and it is a beautiful and uplifting experience. The last person, was a gentlemen who, at the end of the 'ceremony,' hugged a nurse and I heard him say "I enjoyed it."
